Countdown to 10K! -- Day 2!
Well I’m officially 2 days down.
I know that may not sound like a huge accomplishment but this is a step in the right direction for me.
I decided it would be easiest if I went and did my run/walk before I work. I set my alarm for 5:30am Tuesday knowing I wouldn’t want to get up but I was going to try to do it anyway.
As suspected, when my alarm went off I had zero interest in getting up. Luckily, Ryder needed to go out anyway so I figured since I was already up I would get ready and go.
I went back down to the Vinoy, I think I’m going to keep that up for a bit. I love how quiet and calm it is down there so early in the morning. Plus, you really can’t beat that view.
Day 2 was SOOOO MUCH WORSE than day one. When my first running interval started I felt great, I thought to myself “this is easy, I’ve got this.” That lasted for about 2 seconds and then it got more difficult. I was able to run most of the segments but I did need to slow down and walk for about 30 seconds on 2 of the running segments.
My time was also slower the second time around and I was really annoyed at myself.
I’m very quick to tear myself down and feel bad about myself when I don’t see instant results. When I got home I couldn’t even focus on the fact that I got up and did it. I could only focus on the fact that it was harder and I was slower.
This is probably my biggest weakness when it comes to this and I need to keep reminding myself that it’s going to get harder before it gets easier. I’m not going to have instant results. This is completely new to me and my body and it’s going to take a minute.
I’ve already noticed a change with my energy after working out in the morning. It’s definitely a great way to start the day.
I have day 3 tomorrow so I’ll let you all know how it goes! Fingers crossed!!
