Channeling my inner princess with a Character Couture Transformation at Walt Disney World

In May, the Disney Parks Blog announced a new concept for guests of all ages called ‘Character Couture Packages.’ I like to think of it as the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for adults (aka my dream come true)

The Disney Parks Blog has described the makeovers as “Character Couture Packages where Disney stylists transform your hair, makeup and nails into designs inspired by our classic characters!” You can choose from different characters such as Disney princesses, villains, the fab five, and Star Wars characters.

Obviously I wanted to channel my inner Belle and since we were going to Be Our Guest to try out the new dinner menu, it couldn’t have worked out more perfectly. My stylist, Yarie, was INCREDIBLE. If you find yourself at the Ivy Trellis Salon or Salon by the Springs, ask for her if you can. She was part of the opening team for the transformations and was so wonderful throughout the whole experience. She made sure I loved every little detail along the way and truly made me feel like a princess.

I knew going into it the appointment that I wanted the traditional Belle bun. Yarie asked me exactly what I wanted and took it from there. Looking at these photos just makes me so happy because I’m still obsessing over how good my hair looked. Also…just look at ALL OF THE PIXIE DUST! Yarie said she was going to use pixie dust and I was already thrilled but she really went for it and I was so happy.

Note: I still have pixie dust in my hair, but my Disney peeps know that once you have pixie dust, you always have pixie dust

There were SOOO many nail polish colors to choose from. It was actually a bit overwhelming but naturally I went with a deep red color to match my dress and continue channeling my inner Belle. Yarie did 2 coats and they dried pretty quickly. She had mentioned that the polish used was a mix between regular and gel polish. It lasted pretty much the rest of the trip without a cover coat.

Since I was inspired by Belle, my makeup palette featured a lot of yellows, golds, and reds. Yarie did a yellow/gold eyeshadow and I, of course, had some statement red lips. Yarie also did my eyebrows for me which was so wonderful. One of the cool things about these transformations is that all of them are unique. Everyone has different styles and preferences. Color palettes may be the same, but the transformation will always be different.

Before & After

I know I’ve said it a million times already in this post but I am SOOO happy with how this transformation turned out. It exceeded all of my expectations. It makes me so happy just looking at these photos. I can’t thank Disney enough for introducing these transformations and the cast at the Ivy Trellis Salon for being so wonderful.

Tips:

— Call 407-939-7727 to make your reservation, let them know you’re interested in the “Character Couture Package”, they’ll ask you which salon you’re interested in going to

— Arrive 15 minutes prior to your reservation (the spa will most likely call you the day before to confirm you’re all set, there was a 6 hour cancellation policy for the salon at the Grand)

— Go in with an idea of which character you want as your inspiration

— Make sure you put on foundation / contour / concealer prior to your appointment – the makeover includes eyes, blush, and lips ONLY (my stylist did my eyebrows though)

— If you’re going straight to the park afterwards, bring setting spray with you (I recommend Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray)

— My makeover was scheduled for 4pm and we arrived at 3:45pm. We were there until about 5:45pm. Plan for extra time if you have reservations/fast passes afterwards.

— If you’re at the Grand, you can hang out at the bar and hang out in the a/c for a bit before going back outside.

XOXO — Cannon and the Castle
